By Georgia Weir|

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been together since 2011.

The couple, who are notoriously private, now share two daughters and have even moved to Sydney while Gosling works on his upcoming film The Fall Guy.

But where did this Hollywood love story begin?

Gosling, who got his start alongside Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on The Mickey Mouse Club, had already enjoyed a substantial career before accepting the role of Luke in The Place Beyond the Pines.

It was here on set that Gosling would meet his future partner and mother of his children in co-star Mendes.

The two actors played a couple with an infant son in the film, and at the time Mendes said, "We had known each other for a while already, so to work together was really exciting."

While the pair claimed to be friends, it was just a few months later that they were spotted kissing at Disneyland and at a set of traffic lights in Hollywood, somewhat confirming a brewing romance.?

Shortly after this, the two jetted off to Paris and then to Gosling's home country of Canada to meet his mother Donna.?

By summer, The Place Beyond the Pines was beginning to do the rounds at film festivals. Media and fans alike noticed neither of the lead stars had brought dates to any of the red carpet events while promoting the film.

By 2014 media speculation around the couple had begun to go cold when Mendes and Gosling had not been photographed together in several months จC until Gosling popped his head over Mendes' front gate at her Hollywood Hills home.?

We can now safely assume the secrecy may have been due to the fact that just a few months later, the stars announced they were expecting their first child together.

Later that same year, Mendes gave birth to Esmeralda Amada.?

The notoriously private actor also made some extremely rare comments about Mendes to Hello! in an interview.

"I know that I'm with the person I'm supposed to be with," The Notebook actor says.

Gosling was also asked what he looks for in a woman, to which he responded, "that she's Eva Mendes. There's nothing else I'm looking for."

Just a year later, the family became complete as the couple welcomed their second daughter, Amada Lee.

While Mendes was pregnant with Amada, Gosling was filming the smash hit film La La Land. When he won a Golden Globe for his role as Sebastian, he thanked Mendes, his self-described "special lady."

"While I was singing and dancing and playing piano, and having one of the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," Gosling said.

Gosling praised Mendes in his Gold Globe acceptance speech for La La Land.

"If she hadn't taken all of that on, so that I could have this experience, there would surely be someone up here today, so, sweetheart, thank you."

The pair were notoriously private before children, but have become even more so now as a family.

Gosling does not use social media and the couple were reported to have refused to hire a nanny to help with their two daughters.

Most recently, the family have temporarily relocated to Sydney whilst Gosling shoots his upcoming film, The Fall Guy.

Speaking to 9Honey Celebrity, Mendes explained the parenting dynamic between herself and Gosling whilst navigating their field of work.

Gosling and Mendes are a Hollywood super couple who have clocked over a decade together and have also built a loving family. For this reason, pervasive questions and rumours about marriage have followed the high-profile pair.

In response to this, Mendes said in an interview with Chelsea Handler:?

"I'm not like anti-marriage or the institution, like for other people. And I love the idea of a unionกชthat's all very beautiful. But I think, you know, it's a very old fashioned, archaic kind of thing. We did it for land originally. How unromantic is that?"
