'How lucky we are': Jessica Rowe and Peter Overton share sweet full-circle moment with daughters

Jess Rowe and Nine's Peter Overton have taken their kids on a trip down memory lane, revisiting the island paradise they honeymooned in two decades ago.

The couple, who visited the Maldives ?22 years ago after they tied the knot, took their daughters, Allegra and Giselle Overton, back to the luxury holiday spot as part of their wedding anniversary celebrations.

Rowe posted about the family vacation to Instagram, sharing a touching caption.

?"Full circle¡­ Petee & I got married 22 years ago & had our honeymoon in the Maldives," the caption read.

"How lucky we are to return all these years later with our precious girls.

"Happy anniversary, my darling Petee."

The pair are ?open about their relationship, with Rowe often posting TikTok videos from their family home in Sydney.

Jess and Peter met after the newsreader's first marriage ended, with the TV legend apprehensive about dating again.

?In a 2024 interview with 9Honey, Overton said he had to be convinced to ask Jess out on a date.

"Then we met at the Logies in 2001, but I was zero interested in any relationship with anybody. A mutual friend then rang me and said, 'Mate, just ask Jessica out'."

"I said, 'If she rings me in the next 10 minutes, I'll take her out on a date,' so we went out and we've been together ever since."

While the couple are "opposites," Rowe said it helps keep their bond strong.

?"I lighten Petey, and you [Peter] ground me when I need to be grounded. We have the same moral compass, that's why it works," she explained at the time.

Overton has worked at Nine for over 30 years, while Rowe has worked for a range of networks.

After growing up in Sydney, Rowe studied at university before getting a job as a receptionist at Nine, which led to work voicing sports segments.

From there, she moved to Prime TV in Canberra before moving to Melbourne, where she was an on-air reporter, and finally back to Sydney, where she co-presented First at Five nightly news.

Stints at Nine and Seven followed before she went back to Ten to take up co-hosting duties on Studio 10 for the next five years.

Despite their busy life and careers, they have stayed a strong couple by working through it.?

"Of course, there are tough times, there are always tough times," Overton said.
