Melania closes ranks amid husband Donald Trump legal drama

Melania Trump has hunkered down at home and is focusing on her son Barron in the wake of the news husband, former US President Donald Trump, may be indicted for a payment made to a woman after an alleged affair.

Melania, 52, is said to keep a close circle of trusted family and friends, choosing to spend time with them and her 17-year-old son as her husband of 18 years faces possible charges over reports he paid off Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet over their alleged affair ahead of his presidential run.

A New York socialite who knew Melania before her high-profile marriage explains Melania is likely to be closing ranks amid the drama.

"I remember a group of us were chatting and a high-profile gossip columnist was with us who said, 'Oh, Melania is over there. We should all go talk to her because she is probably going to marry Donald,'" the socialite told PEOPLE. "Melania was just one of the girls then, and we all knew her as that. But none of us really knew her then or now."

The source described Melania's life at the family property Mar-a-Lago in Florida and Melania's reliance on her parents who live nearby and are "also close to Barron and have been instrumental in his rearing."?

"They live in a fairy tale world and just deal with things as they come and seem to survive pretty well," the source explained. "They do what is possible to get past the problems without disrupting their lifestyle."

Trump himself has been spotted sticking to his routine which includes a daily lunch at the Trump International Golf Club.?

The source explained son Barron "has always been a first priority" for Melania.

?"Of course she is worried and concerned about the legal issues but she has not done anything more to protect Barron now than she ever did. She has always put him first. She is a good mother," they added.

The source said Melania is "leading her own life, and still feels happy being at Mar-a-Lago, surrounded by people who love her and who never talk about reality, or bad things about her husband."

News Trump, 76, is facing a possible indictment ?over the alleged hush money payment to Daniels in 2016 after an alleged affair in 2006 shortly after Barron was born.

Of the situation, the source said Melania "remains angry and doesn't want to hear" the matter mentioned.?

"She is aware of who her husband is and keeps her life upbeat with her own family and a few close friends," they said.

Trump has also kicked of his bid to be the Republican candidate who runs against US President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election.
