Best Selfie: Miranda Tapsell takes us behind the scenes of stardom and motherhood

Miranda Tapsell is a stage and screen actress from Darwin who grew up in Kakadu National Park and began performing at the age of seven, graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2008 before catapulting to stardom with roles including Martha Tennant in Channel 9's Love Child.
When we sat down with Tapsell to chat about her old Instagram photos, she took us through all the moments จC from family milestones to snaps showcasing her glamourous acting life.
The first photo we presented the actress with was taken on the day of her wedding to comedy writer James Colley in 2018.
Tapsell has previously said she was drawn to Colley's sense of humour, and from the moment they met there was a "strong connection".
"It was so special," she says, reflecting on the photo. ?
"The photographer really captured us in that moment where we like, 'Oh, my gosh, can you believe it, we're here at the wedding?'" ?
With a big extended family, the proud Larrakia Tiwi woman always dreamed of having a little one of her own one day. In December 2021 Tapsell and Colley welcomed their daughter Grace Birri-Pa Purnarrika Colley.
Tapsell recently shared a photo of Grace with her own father.
"It was really special to get a photo with Dad with his grandaughter," she says.
"It was a wonderful memory to freeze in time". ?
In 2020, Tapsell released her first book, a memoir detailing her personal and professional struggles. ?
"Releasing Top End Girl was incredibly exciting," she says.
"A lot of people found it quite strange that I released a memoir so young, but I was so proud that I was able to record my career while it was still so fresh in my brain."
Tapsell's memoir details her initial struggles as an Aboriginal woman trying to break into the industry.
In addition to her four-season Logie-award-winning stint on Love Child, Tapsell is well known to audiences for her roles in Top End Wedding, The Sapphires and Stan's Wolf Creek series.
Tapsell is currently starring the Stan Original film, Christmas Ransom alongside Matt Okine, Ed Oxenburgh and newcomer Matty J.
"What is so beautiful about this story is that amongst all of the antics, it is following the people that work in the store and it is about how much they love each other and how much they all love Christmas," the actress says of the movie.
