Sports reporter forced to cover blizzard progressively gets crankier throughout coverage

By Madhurima Haque|

A sports reporter who was tasked with covering a blizzard overnight has gone viral for his witty quips throughout his coverage.

Mark Woodley, a sports reporter from KWWL-TV in Iowa?, was asked to cover the blizzard that had cancelled all the sports events he was originally supposed to report on.

In the coverage, which he posted in a compilation on Twitter, he gripes about having to come in five hours earlier than he normally does? จC and it's left viewers in hysterics.

As the news reporter at the desk periodically checked in on Woodley, he became progressively crankier, just as he said he would at the beginning of his shift.

Some of the best lines throughout the night include, "I didn't know there was another 3:30 in the morning," and, "The good news is I can still feel my face. The bad news is, I kind of wish I couldn't.

"I'm pretty sure that you guys added an extra hour to this show just because somebody likes torturing me," he speculated at one point.

"That's one of the funniest things I've seen," one person commented.

"Makes me wonder what this dude's attitude was like when the pandemic paused sports for 100+ days!" said another.

"This humour is needed in our lives and career. It brings the good out of us. Thanks for the laughter," said a fellow news producer.

"Big mistake, Woodley. You shouldn't have been so good at this," said one of his colleagues.

"Perhaps sadly for you, you have now become far and away my favourite weather reporter," wrote another.

"This is a masterpiece. Welcome to your new job," one new fan wrote.

"Mark you have no idea how hard you're making the rest of our jobs. Now every news director wants their sports reporter to go out into the cold, in hopes of going viral," wrote a fellow sports reporter.

"This humour is needed in our lives and career. It brings the good out of us. Thanks for the laughter," said a fellow news producer.
