We know the cost of living is going up, but surely not by this much?

Some commenters weren't even surprised by the exorbitant fee.?

"Sydneyกญsounds about right," said one commenter.

"Ramming the gate would be cheaper," another joked.

"According to the screen you can just 'Press Cancel Button'" advised one commenter, to which the original poster replied, "That's exactly what I did. (Once I'd stopped hyperventilating.)"

One had a simple explanation: "It's an old ticket. This happened to me. I put the ticket in and was shocked that it was I think $4K. Luckily I found the new ticket."

Some had similar experiences to the Sydney man.

"I had this happen to me as well. Inserted a ticket from maybe last week as they didn't collect the ticket last time. Was surprised & scared & angry at the same, and the lady behind me was laughing as she saw the few thousand dollars parking fee as well. In the end I pressed the button to talk," another commenter shared.

"I worked in a shopping centre for 2 years and kept the ticket from my first shift (left at 11:00pm every night and gates were open) - on my last shift I put the ticket in when I was leaving and it was over $20,000," said another.

"Can imagine it would have been a medical emergency if you tapped your card right as you realised what the price was (yes, that's never a good idea)," one commenter advised.

The original poster did not ?advise what exactly the computer error was that caused the extreme fees.
