K?eeping your skirting boards clean can seem like an impossible task, especially if you have kids or pets.

The lower part of the wall can get dirty fast, with dust, grime, and hair, but is often skipped over when dusting or vacuuming. ?

When you do finally clean them, it can take a long time to remove all the stains and dust, but ?one expert has revealed the easy two-step way to get sparkling clean skirting boards with minimal elbow grease.

The expert from UK installation company Skirting King? told the Express the trick is to "keep it simple."

"Warm water mixed with a small amount of dish soap can clean your skirting boards without the need for harsh chemicals," he said.

The tip will leave the boards clean, but it's also cost-effective and sustainable. ?

"If you're facing stubborn stains, a paste made from baking soda and water can gently but effectively remove those tough marks without causing any harm to your skirting boards."

You don't want to mix water and dust, as it creates a sticky substance that clings to everything and makes it nearly impossible to remove. ?

The expert added: "This will tackle any accumulated dirt and marks without soaking the wood.?"

Then, fill a bowl with warm water and a squirt of dish soap.

?Use a microfibre cloth to scrub the mixture over the boards and a soft-bristle brush for the stains that are a bit tougher to remove.

"For those persistent stains or marks, mix baking soda with water to form a paste. Apply this paste to the problem areas and lightly scrub with a soft-bristled brush or cloth," the expert added.

Then dry the wood skirting immediately with a clean, dry cloth to minimise the risk of any moisture damage.
