I?f surfaces you've cleaned end up streaky, sticky and covered in dust it could be because of a common mistake.

Professional cleaner Brandon Pleshek explained in a TikTok that he's noticed people commonly use only one cloth to clean.

?It means the cleaning solution you're using actually remains on the surface long term.

"?A mistake I see all too often when people are cleaning their houses is that they leave a ton of residue from their cleaners behind, and over time that dries sticky and then attracts more dirt making your home more dirty," he said.

To prevent this problem Pleshek recommended using ?three cloths when you clean a surface.

?The first cloth is the one that gets dunked into a bowl or bucket of soapy water and used for wiping and scrubbing a surface, such as a cupboard door.

"Now obviously with this towel (cloth) you want to pay special attention to any of those dirty grimy or sticky ?areas while you're cleaning because this towel is really doing the heavy lifting from the surface," he said.

Once you've used the first cloth to clean the surface you then grab the second cloth and dampen that in a bucket filled only with warm water.

Wring out the cloth so that it's not dripping wet and wipe it over the surface to rinse off the cleaning product you just used.

?Pleshek said people often stop after rinsing the surface leaving it streaky and damp.

?But to make the area completely clean he advised using your third cloth, which should be dry with nothing added to it, to dry and buff the surface.

The ?US janitor who has almost 2 million followers on TikTok and more than 42 million likes also recently explained in a TikTok why your house is always dusty.

He said there are probably a few steps you're skipping, including? not cleaning from the top down.

"Dust high surfaces first, gravity is working with you," he said.

?Another reason houses remain dusty is using the wrong cleaning tools.

"Choose tools that pick up dust, not ones that just push it around," he said.

?Recommended tools include an extendable duster for things like fans and vents and the same microfibre cloths he used to demonstrate his three cloth system above.
