'Life changing' tape hack a film industry pro uses to easily find the end of the tape roll again

Tape is a must-have tool for home maintenance and DIY that helps with everything from painting straight edges to hanging a picture frame.
But it's usefulness comes with a few mildly irritating problems such as finding the end of the tape, tearing a piece and removing it from the floor easily.
However, a film industry professional has a hack that makes all of those things easier, and given crews use tape frequently on sets to mark where actors need to stand, you can be sure it's good trick.

Austin Kay revealed the masking tape hack in a video on his TikTok channel @austindkay?.

"Instead of tearing it off like this (straight across), what you want to do is peel it to the length you want, fold it over and under itself, it forms a triangle, place your thumb over to hold it and then rip," he explained.
"That way it creates a little tab so that way you can feel and grab your next piece, and then when it's time to [remove it] you can easily peel them off?."
?Austin's tape hack has proved popular with 2.6 million views so far and lots of positive feedback.

But if it's packing tape you're using, there is another way to find the end of a roll of tape.
In a different video TikToker Kristen Morley pointed out that the device used to hold packing tape has a built-in feature, which you can see in the image below.
Just run the red strip over your tape and you should soon be able to loacte the end.?
Other ways you can find the end of a tape roll include folding it over after using it and popping a plastic bread tag at the end.
And if none of those work, you can always go back to the classic method: running your fingernail round and round until you feel the end of the tape.
