Aussie shoppers have begged Aldi for a home-delivery service for years, and now the retail giant has finally caved. ?

On Tuesday, Aldi confirmed it's teaming up ?with DoorDash to trial an on-demand grocery delivery service for the first time in its almost 25-years in Australia.

However, there is one major catch.

The trial is currently only available in Canberra, with Aldi customers in other parts of the country left to wait until later this year for the service to roll out further.

The trial will begin in the city on July 8, with customers able to choose from more than 1,800 products including fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy, bread, and household essentials.

During the trial, Special Buys products will not available for delivery through DoorDash.

It's a milestone move for Aldi, ?who have never offered a delivery service or even a click-and-collect service for customers.

Other shopping giants such as Woolworths and Coles already have their own apps where you can order delivery to your door. Both are also on Uber Eats, and Coles is included on DoorDash. ?

Jordan Lack, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi Australia, said the collaboration is in response to what "customers have been seeking".

This is the second exciting grocery collaboration announced by DoorDash this year, with the delivery service partnering up with Costco in February.

The move allowed non-Costco members to purchase items from the bulk discount grocery retailer.
