Aussie supermarket with the best lettuce has been named

Buying supermarket lettuce can go one of two ways.
We buy it, and use it that very same day to make a delicious, fresh and healthy salad. Or, we forget about it for a few days and when we do go to use it, it's no longer at its best. If it's bagged lettuce, it seems to diminish even faster.
This is why consumer group Choice decided to compare the freshness of mixed lettuce purchases across four supermarkets: Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA.
Each was carefully assessed, with one supermarket's lettuce outlasting them all.
Choice found Coles to have the freshest bagged lettuce out of all the major supermarkets, receiving the highest score with 77 per cent of shoppers noting all the leaves were still fresh after two days.
Choice Editorial Director Mark Serrels said Choice often gets asked which supermarket has the freshest produce.
"While we can't answer that question for every product you might want to buy, in this quarter's survey we asked our mystery shoppers to assess the freshness of bagged lettuce two days after it was purchased," he said.

"In this survey, there was some evidence of decay in the mixed lettuce purchased at all supermarkets, but Coles ultimately received the highest score for freshness, with 77 per cent of shoppers noting all of the leaves were still fresh after two days."
Woolworths came in second at 70 per cent, followed by IGA at 67 per cent, and Aldi at 64 per cent.
A Coles spokesperson told nine.com.au they work with "some of Australia's best fruit and vegetable growers and is proud that Choice rated our produce highest for freshness for the second survey in a row".
"We continue to work closely with our growers and have made improvements across our network to help ensure fruit and vegetables arrives to our stores quicker, fresher and in great eating condition," they added.
In September, Choice also named Coles as having the freshest strawberries, with 100 per cent of punnets purchased as part of its assessment showing no signs of decay on day one.
Woolworths came in second at 92 per cent, followed by Aldi at 75 per cent and then IGA at 50 per cent.
That same month, it was Aldi that was named by Canstar Blue as having the best overall fruit and vegetables for the fifth year in a row.
Canstar gave Aldi the Most Satisfied Customers Award for Supermarket Fruit and Vegetables for 2025, with a top rating of five stars for overall satisfaction as well as for value for money, freshness of produce, and variety.
