Supermarket Sleuths: Coles rolls out major changes to grocery shopping app

C?oles has rolled out major changes to their supermarket app, with customers notified about across the weekend via a series of in-app messages.
The major changes include sneak peeks of catalogues and specials, real-time Click & Collect order tracking and exclusive app-only offers and promos.
The messages announcing the changes were coupled with a suggestion that shoppers allow notifications from the app to take full advantage of the latest deals.
Also included in the update? จC the handy option to filter product searches to "multi buy", "half price" and "online only".
Customers are advised to create a shopping list using the "specials" to maximise their savings. Also delivery instructions have also moved to the "Review and pay" section.
"You can still tell the driver how to drop your order off, make your bagging choices, and more," customers have been told.
"Now look for it in the 'Review and pay' screen, just before you check out."

Changes also appear while shopping in the app, including ?the option to add certain items in with one tap, including the multiple units of products.
Coles has confirmed updates to improve the shopping experience in their app including delivery instructions moving to a new spot in checkout to make the process faster and more streamlined and, to help customers more easily find value, they have added new specials filters in app that let customers view discounted items across lists, search results and aisles.
Supermarket apps have become the best way customers can find out about the latest deals across all the major grocery retailers.
A recent push by Coles and Woolworths to increase uptake of pick up and delivery options has seen discount offers for first-time online grocery shoppers using their apps and websites.
Currently, approximately 10.7-14 per cent of Aussies grocery shop online via Click & Collect, Direct to boot and home deliveries, with Coles and Woolworths keen to increase this.
Coles is doing this via their Coles Plus and Deliver More program which fulfills orders straight from a warehouse. This comes with the promise additional savings for online shoppers as well as "next to no substitutions".
"Our fruit and veg comes straight to your door from our warehouse, with no supermarket detour," they promise.
"If it doesn't arrive as fresh as you'd expect we'll give you a refund or credit through coles.com.au."
Customers can choose from 1-6 hour delivery windows.? Deliver More is currently operating in select locations in New South Wales and Victoria.?
First-time customers who spend $100 more will be given free delivery. There is an additional $20 being offered for those who spend $150 or more via the Coles app.?

In its Q1 results, Coles reported a significant increase in online orders and pick-up, with supermarket e-commerce sales soaring by 27.9 per cent.
Woolworths recently announced the addition of a million more online delivery slots over the festive season, with free delivery on orders over $150 from December 1-5 to kick off the start of summer.
Their Delivery Now program is also up and running for last-minute orders delivered in two hours and under.
Over the festive season season, Woolworths expects to fulfill more than four million online orders, including over 2.4 million delivery orders and over 1.6 million pick ups.
In the last quarter eCommerce sales at Woolworths, sales grew year on year by 12.9 per cent, while faster delivery and pick under two hours with Delivery Now increased by 39 per cent as customers seek greater convenience.

Aldi and Costco shoppers can only place small grocery orders via Door Dash so these two businesses are still focused on in store shoppers.
IGA operates their own online delivery service. Customers simply select their nearest local store to access available deals.?
