Childcare worker reveals parents' most annoying pick-up habit: 'The audacity!'

By Nikolina Koevska Kharoufeh |

At the end of a long and stressful day looking after an army of kids, childcare workers are ecstatic when pick-up time comes around.

But one worker has revealed some parents don't have the best manners when it comes to picking up their kids at the end of the day - regularly doing one thing in particular that gets on her nerves.

Posting a video to TikTok, the Irish nursery worker says the most annoying thing parents do when picking up their children at the end of the day is demand the worker change their nappy.

And it seems it's a common request - something parents even come back to ask after they've left the centre.

The childcare worker admits she gets this request from parents all the time. (TikTok)

In the video on her TikTok page @thenursery_nurse, the educator acts out a scene where a mum comes to pick up her baby at the end of the day.

After leaving the centre with her child, she comes back to let the worker know that the baby's nappy is dirty.

"I just strapped her into the car and she decided to do a poo", the mum says.

The childcare worker points the mum in the direction of the nappy room, saying she is more than welcome to use their supplies to clean up her baby.

She is then met with a blank face, the mum surprised that she is expected to change the nappy herself.

"Or I could change her for you?", the worker awkwardly offers.

After the worker takes it upon herself to change the baby's nappy, the mum then follows her into the nappy room impatiently waiting for her to clean her child up.

At the end of the video she turns to the worker and says, "I didn't want to stop you doing the nappy because you're a nursery nurse you must love them".

An assumption the educator hates hearing from parents.

The video, which has now been viewed over 800,000 times, has left people speechless. Users were in disbelief that parents would ever expect this from daycare workers.

"That can't be true?! The Audacity!", one person commented.

Other childcare workers around the world agreed with the claim, admitting it's a common request they get from parents.

One said, "Been here a thousand times! Now I don't give a further option. I just say I am unfortunately caring for these children now."
