Dad accused of 'weird' act with teen daughter but internet blames new partner: 'Like a jealous teenager'

Most would agree that an important part of parenting is finding ways to bond with your children, especially as they get older and develop their own interests.
In fact, many experts urge parents to show an interest in whatever pastimes their children enjoy and spend time on them together as they enter their teenage years.
But a father's attempts to spend quality time with his 16-year-old daughter has been questioned by his new partner, who thinks it is 'weird' กช prompting him to ask the internet's advice.

The father, who called himself RedLines, took to Mumsnet's advice column this week with a post entitled, "Weird to go to a concert/holiday with 16 year old daughter?"
The divorced man explained he was the father of four children including the youngest, a 16-year-old daughter, who is still at home and lives with him half the time.
"I have taken her to a couple of concerts กช Billie Eilish etc and have just bought a couple of tickets for another concert, at her request," he said.
"My new partner of over a year is very put out by this and thinks it is weird and unhealthy for a father to be taking his daughter to a concert."

He continued: ?"Similarly, I have an interest in a house in Spain and last year went to Spain to the house with her for a fortnight."
He said his daughter was 15 at the time and while his eldest child joined them for a couple of days, his two other children were unable to come.
"My partner thinks that it is really weird that a father goes on holiday alone with his daughter," he continued.
"For context, this is a house that has been in the family for 40 years and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and has been a holiday destination every year for all of the family."
The man said he was "blindsided by the position taken by my partner" but wanted to ask if anyone else thought it was unusual or weird to take his daughter on these outings.
Hundreds of people have so far commented, with almost all agreeing he was not doing anything wrong.
"I remember at 17 sharing a hotel room with my dad on an odd occasion that he took me to far flung university open days กช similarly a couple of times he visited me at uni and slept on the air bed in the same room as me. Nothing weird or untoward กช practical and we enjoyed each other's company," wrote one.
"Sorry you have been made to feel you are doing something weird. You definitely aren't. My husband often does things alone with our 16-year-old daughter. This summer they have a number of trips planned when our younger kids are still in school," said another.
Many thought the man's new partner was the problem and urged him to act.
"You need to dump your partner. Of course it's not weird," said one.
"Not weird. Get rid of partner," urged another.?
"Your partner's trying to spoil your relationship with your daughter. She'd be told to hit the road, asap. Absolutely shocking behaviour on her part. She sounds like a jealous teenager!" was another comment.
?"Not weird at all. Lovely you have that relationship. It's a red flag from your partner. Sounds like potential jealousy/possessiveness on her part."
"Your partner is the weird one. Get rid before she comes between you and your daughter."
