Influencer Ashy Bines hits back at mum-shaming critics

By Madhurima Haque|

Fitness influencer Ashy Bines has hit out against critics who have mum-shamed her for her small pregnancy belly. The expectant mum shared a recent snap on Instagram by the pool in a black bikini, addressing her haters in the caption.

"It's 2021 I thought mum shaming was a thing of the past, something I experienced when I was pregnant 7 years ago with Taj but nope," she shared.

"Already having mums hate come at me because of the size of my belly? Like there is a 'right' or 'normal' size to be? Everyone's bodies are SO diff, carry diff, show diff and hold a baby differently.

"And I think EVERY pregnant belly is beautiful no matter what and something we should all be uplifting and embracing with each other, (pregnancy) is literally a miracle and so special.

"I can't count how many comments and DMs I've had saying how stupid, silly, dramatic etc. I am for 'holding my belly' when I don't have one, but for me there is a little belly and there is a REAL HUMAN BEING growing inside and it's something I'll never get sick of feeling proud to show."

Commenters encouraged her to continue showing off her belly.

"Hold that belly sweet mama! It's your baby and belly, and it's a precious thing!" said one.

"You look amazing!! So sad women are mean to other women, especially pregnant ones!! You hold that belly with pride because you have a precious little baby growing in there and you are a superhero for creating life!!" encouraged another.

"That is bloody awful and so sad that those people feel the need to say nasty things that can bring you down in such a wonderful time!" said another commenter, "Ignore their bad vibes, you're beautiful and carrying a little human exactly how your body is made to."

"People amaze me. Why do we always have something negative to say about such beautiful things? Why do we gravitate toward shaming someone rather than lifting someone up."

Others shared their own experiences while pregnant.

"I'm 20 weeks now and only just starting to show! We are all so different and that's what makes pregnancy journeys so incredible and unique," said one expectant mum.

"People have nothing better to do I swear it. I was a lot different I've always bloated very early in pregnancy...people would comment and say 'Are you sure there's only one in there?'...which would get to me and upset me. No one should ever make a pregnant woman feel anyway other than beautiful," said another empathetic commenter.
