30 Rock star Jack McBrayer pivots from comedy to kindness in new children's show

By Georgia Weir|

Comedian and actor Jack McBrayer, best known for his work in 30 Rock and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, has now pivoted into the world of children's TV.

McBrayer now stars alongside Markita Prescott in Hello Jack! The Kindness Show, which will launch its second season on October 7 on Apple TV+.

Hello Jack! is set in the town of Clover Grove, which is bursting with music, colour and, most of all, kindness.

McBrayer, who also works as co-creator and executive producer of the show, sat down with 9Honey Parenting to discuss the upcoming season and the importance of kindness.

"Season 2 will have some wonderful themed episodes that I think viewers will enjoy and some guest stars that I'm very excited about," McBrayer said in anticipation of the upcoming season.

The actor also spoke about the ways in which he was inspired to not only make a children's show, but also a program that centres on kindness.

"It came from a very personal place where I was noticing in my life กญ that a lot of grown-ups were treating each other with a lack of kindness," McBrayer said.

"These are lessons that we learn at a very early age and from programs such as Mister Rogers' Neighbourhood, which is a very important and very informative show."

"That's what inspired me, let's remind people what we can do, let's show young viewers how fun and gratifying it can be to do acts of kindness."

However, Hello Jack! goes well beyond promoting kindness, also dealing with more complex emotional understanding for both children and parents.

"The social and emotional lessons were really important for me," McBrayer began.

"I wanted to do live action so that kids can see a grown human talking to them about these feelings ... being scared, experiencing loss."

McBrayer, who played NBC page 'Kenneth' in 30 Rock, also spoke to 9Honey about his pivot from the world of sitcoms and comedy to children's television.

"I knew I wanted to do a kid's show, but it was important to me for people to know that this is a sincere and earnest children's show and not satirical or cynical," the actor said.

McBrayer told 9Honey season 2 of Hello Jack! is expected to be just as fun, bright and will even feature a number of special guests.
