Chrissy Teigen hints she may be planning another baby

By Merryn Porter |

Model and TV presenter Chrissy Teigen has hinted she may be trying for another baby with husband John Legend following the tragic stillbirth of their son 16 months ago.

Teigen shared an Instagram story with her 37 millions followers which showed a table with various items and medical paraphernalia, including a clear box full of glass vials, canisters and syringes, like those used during IVF procedures.

Across the screen she had written "Here we go again" and "lol" beside an animated image of what appeared to be crying reproductive organs.

Teigen has previously been very open about her struggles to conceive her children, daughter, Luna, son Miles and little Jack, who was stillborn in September 2020 when she was 20 weeks' pregnant.

It is thought that if Teigen and Legend were trying for another baby, they could be part way through IVF treatment, such as an egg retrieval, prior to using a surrogate to carry a baby after Teigen previously hinted on Instagram that she was unable to carry any more children.

"I love being pregnant, so so much, and I'm sad I never will be again," she said in a post in December 2020.

She went on to tell People in April last year that "coming to terms with not being able to carry again" was really difficult for her, adding "I think about it as my uterus is just not co-operating with me."

She has since turned her attention to removing the stigma surrounding not just stillbirth and miscarriage but infertility in general.

Her first two children were conceived as a result of IVF treatment and she has spoken widely about the need for people to be more open about infertility, even telling USA Today last April she didn't want women to suffer in silence any more.

"I'm happy to be the one to be able to yell loudly from the rooftops and talk about my uterus and talk about my everything," she said. "If that's going to make other women feel that they can do it too, then I will be that person and I'm happy to do it."

Teigen told the publication losing a baby so publicly after the "excitement of getting pregnant naturally" was "gut-wrenching and crazy."

"But I can honestly say at this time in my life now and after so much healing and therapy and such a community that has rallied around us, I feel really truly good and feeling very at peace," she said.

She helped launch the Fertility Out Loud campaign and said it was important to keep the conversation going.

"I didn't want to just have my babies after having fertility struggles and then stop talking about it," she said. "Hearing from other women made me know it was something that needed to be talked about more."
