By Merryn Porter |

We all know it is never a good idea to leave toddlers unattended for too long. And a quiet toddler usually only means one thing กช they are up to something!

A young Sydney mum got the shock of her life this week when she discovered her young son had used a container of red craft paint to 'redecorate' her home.

The video of her discovering the mess has gone viral, so far racking up more than 4.6 million views as well as 520,000 likes and 5400 comments.

Indy Clinton is a Sydney-based mum who has a large social media following on TikTok and Instagram where she posts about life as a mum to son Navy and soon-to-be mum to a little girl she is expecting.

The 21-second video starts with her walking through the kitchen of her home on route to the living room, where Navy can be seen in the distance.

He is holding a large container of red craft paint, which he has smeared all over a door. He is also standing in a large puddle of the paint which is on the timber floorboards.

"You are kidding me," she says as she moves closer to the mess.

"Are you joking?" she asks her son, who also has red paint all over his clothes and his chin, seemingly pointing to the fact he may have also tasted the paint.

As he starts to walk away from the scene of the crime, through the paint on the floor, she says, "Navy stop," as he starts to slip.

"Navy, what did you just do?" she asks as the camera pans the room, showing paint on a timber box used as a coffee table.

Luckily the cream lounge seems to have been spared. The video then jumps to two more scenes of him walking and sliding through the paint on the floor. She posted the video with the comment, "No words."

She also posted photos on her Instagram page and stories, including one that has since expired.

"Note to self, don't brush your teeth while chatting to your husband and taking selfies, just don't do it, learn from me. Because somewhere in the house your toddler is f---ing it up when you think they're playing innocently with toys," she wrote.

Another photo Indy posted shows her son, whom she refers to as Picasso, sitting in the puddle of paint, with the bottle in the foreground.

The comments came thick and fast, with many seeing the funny side. "Guess you could say he was caught red-handed. Sorry I'll go," wrote one, while another said, "This reminded me to take my pill thank u."

Others got a shock when they saw the start of the video. "I thought it was a crime scene but gravy strikes again, very artistic," wrote one, causing his mum to reply, "Legit same, I almost passed out when I saw it from a distance."

Predictably others had questions. "How long was he left alone for him to do all that?" asked one, while another said, "I don't get why he's always up to mischief จC where's Mumกญ is he alone for too long?"

Clinton replied, "Mum's busy brushing her teething, and putting haemorrhoid cream on. Forgive me for having a minute to myself Karen."

Others praised her parenting style. "As a kid who was always yelled at, I admire your calmness. especially since you probably left for one min to do a wee. You're a really good mum Indy," wrote one.

It is not the first time young Navy has made a mess. A video his mum posted just last month after he got into the flour also went viral, clocking up 3 million views so far.
