Mum's frustration with 'passive aggressive' school drop-off rules: 'Extremely unprofessional'

By Georgia Weir|

The morning school drop-off is a process reliant on a set of rules and social mores. That being said, sometimes the process is more than just your child unbuckling themselves and getting out of the car.?

One mum found herself the target of the school drop-off police after receiving a passive aggressive letter from the principal.

Annie Robert took to TikTok to share the infuriating run-in.

"I just dropped off my daughter at school. We dropped her off at school because she cries every morning if she has to get the bus," she told her viewers.

"So as I'm pulling my daughter out of the car because she is crying and doesn't want to go to schoolกญ a lady comes up and hands me this paper."

The lady, whose job it is to greet the children in the school drop-off line, handed Robert a sheet of drop-off rules written by the principal.

"Rule number one: DO NOT get out of your car at school drop-off EVER," it read.

"OK so my kid is crying and won't get out of the car and I'm not allowed to get out of the car ever?" Robert questions.

The last two rules on the sheet of paper were particularly contentious to the mum and to viewers of the TikTok video.

"Leave the PDA at home. You love your little one and you want him to have a good day at school and kiss him goodbye. That's lovely, you're cute but little Johnny will not get out of the car if he is not ready to say goodbye," rule five states.

"Go park your car and walk to school, people are waiting, folks.

"Rule six: the rules of the car drop-off lane apply to everyone no matter what kind of car you drive, so move your Maserati to the back of the line dude. You're giving the one per cent a bad name."

The pedantic rules divided viewers of the TikTok video.

"The PRINCIPAL wrote that? That's extremely unprofessional," one viewer wrote.

"This is SOOOOO passive aggressive," another user added.

However, other users acknowledged the passive tone of the letter but agreed those rules are needed.

"Most of those rules are standard at the three schools we've experienced. Drop off is supposed to be quick. Wording of the letter is much to be desired, though."

"The delivery is wrong, but the message is right mama. You gotta park," one mum wrote.
