By Georgia Weir|

The Australian sporting community has shared an outpouring of support after Diamonds champion Gretel Bueta revealed she suffered a miscarriage.

The netballer announced she and husband Niko were pregnant with their second child in October. The 29-year-old was then forced to withdraw from the Australian Diamonds' international series in England and New Zealand.

Being one of the team's best players, Bueta bravely opted to share the reason why she would not be appearing at the upcoming international series, revealing she had tragically suffered a miscarriage.

"Carried for only a short time but loved for a lifetime. #miscarriage," the caption of the post reads. The short clip features her son Bobby playing at the beach with Taylor Swift's song Bigger Than the Whole Sky playing in the background.

Bueta received messages of love and support from her Diamonds teammates and the wider Australian netball community in the comments.

Netballers Kim Ravaillion, Kate Moloney, Caitlin Bassett, Lizzy Watson, Courtney Bruce and Jamie-Lee Price were among the athletes to show their support for Bueta.

"In Australia, a miscarriage occurs every five minutes. Our thoughts are with anyone who has experienced miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss."

Bueta and husband Niko also share a son Bobby who appeared alongside his mum after the netballer won a gold medal at the recent Commonwealth Games where she scored 37 goals in the final against Jamaica.
