'Our toughest time as parents': Sam and Snez Wood on the traumatic birth of baby Harper

When Sam and Snez Wood were told the mum-of-four was in labour four weeks before her due date, they knew it wouldn't be an easy birth.

But neither could have expected just how dramatic a turn the tiny tot's arrival would take.

??Describing the experience as a 'bit of a rollercoaster' they candidly discussed how things turned very serious, very quickly - for both mum and bub.

"It was horrendous, absolutely horrendous," the 28 by Sam Wood founder said of that time, "I think that would be our toughest time as parents that we've had to endure."

Harper was born on May 4, but it would be four weeks before the couple was able to take her home. All while for much of that time Snez was dealing with her own health battles, which saw her unable to meet Harper for her first few days.

"As soon as Harper was born, Snezana's body shut down again.. 10 times worse than the night before. There were about 16 people in the birthing suite... and suddenly Snez started shaking."

As it turned out, Snez had sepsis and blood poisoning and was rushed off to the ICU while Harper was rushed to the special care unit.

?"I'd just had Harper and I wasn't able to be with her or hold her, it didn't even feel, almost, like I'd had a baby," she shared. "It was horrible."

The couple had to juggle a baby in special care, while caring for their other children. (Instagram)

The couple also discussed the challenges of caring for their other daughters Charlie, three, Willow, five and Snez's daughter Eve, 17.?
