M?eghan Markle has returned to the spotlight following Queen Elizabeth's death with her first interview since the end of the official royal mourning period.
The wide-reaching interview with US entertainment publication Variety?was done prior to Her Majesty's death to promote the Duchess of Sussex's podcast series Archetypes, but was held out of respect to the late monarch.
This allowed ?for a second sit-down with the magazine to reflect on Meghan's relationship with Prince Harry's grandmother, whom she described as a "shining example" of "female leadership".

"I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her," the duchess told the publication, saying the pair's relationship "had a nice warmth".

?Favourite memory with the Queen
In reflecting on her time spent with Queen Elizabeth after marrying into the royal family in 2018, Meghan revealed her favourite memory with Her Majesty.
Just months after the wedding, the Duchess of Sussex was invited by the monarch to attend the opening of the new Mersey Gateway Bridge, in Widnes in the north-west England?.
The trip made her the youngest royal to be invited to travel with Her Majesty in the royal train จC an honour not afforded to Prince Harry or Prince William and Kate.?
"That first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt," she recalled.
Reaction to backlash
Meghan broached the reactions and ultimate backlash to two of her biggest interviews since leaving the royal family in 2020.
The duchess was panned for her criticism of the royal family in her recent interview in The Cut?
After having "some time to reflect on it", the podcast host said: "I can survive it".
"The [New York] story was intended to support Archetypes and focus on our projects," she said.
"Part of me is just really trusting, really open กช that's how I move in the world. I have to remember that I don't ever want to become so jaded that that piece of me goes away. So despite any of those things? Onward."
In reference to the Oprah Winfrey interview, which aired in March 2021 and comprised Prince Harry and Meghan's first public comments since leaving their roles in the royal family, Meghan stayed relatively silent.
The duchess only spoke about needing to be surrounded by supportive women when attending Gloria Steinem's birthday a few days after the highly anticipated interview had gone to air.
"Walking into a room alone is never easy for me, and I remember feeling a bit uncomfortable," Meghan recalled.
"But before I could let my uncertainty linger, Pamela Adlon came up to me and greeted me with such warmth and kindness."
Meghan 'absolutely not' returning to acting
The Duchess of Sussex and former Suits star has all but ruled out a return to acting down the track.
With the caveat of "never say never", Meghan, who along with Prince Harry is working with streaming services Netflix and Spotify on various projects, said she was "done" and her intention was "to absolutely not" return to acting.
In reflecting on her TV career, Meghan briefly touched on the #MeToo and #OscarsSoWhite movements during her time in Hollywood.
"?We didn't have a name for it at that time," she told the industry publication.
"There were just certain things that were accepted. If there was any discomfort, you just dealt with it."
Hopes for Archie and Lilibet's futures
However, the former Suits star said if her children, Archie, three; and Lilibet, one; were to grow up wanting to be actors, she wouldn't stop them or try to talk them out of it.
But the mum-of-two hinted at the royal pressures her kids, as grandchildren of the monarch King Charles, might face later in life.
?"They're our kids, obviously, and they're part of a legacy and a tradition and a family that will have other expectations," Meghan said.
"But I want them to be able to carve out their own path."
?Meghan can rap
While talking about her kids, the Duchess of Sussex talked about son Archie's favourite TV shows and admitted she often found herself rapping Meet the Tyrannosaurus Rex from Ask the StoryBots.
On the subject of music the duchess listens to, Meghan spoke about her favourite Beyonce songs on the singer's new album but for the photoshoot played a 1970s mix.?
Favourite movie revealed
The 41-year-old said she loves watching rom-coms.
Her favourite is When Harry Met Sally, which she said she'd watched "a million times", but she loves any movie with Julia Roberts.
However, Meghan said she hates horror movies.
Harry and Meghan share an office
Speaking about working together with her husband, Meghan revealed the pair share an office?.
"We work from home, as most people started to do during lockdown," the duchess said.
"It allows us to have significant time with our kids at this really special moment in their lives.?"
After making breakfast and getting the kids "set for the day"?, the couple take part in a number of joint video meetings and phone calls. Although, they sometimes operate with a divide and conquer mentality to "accomplish even more".
How the couple communicate
While talking about work and what their average day looks like in the Sussex household, Meghan admitted Prince Harry is better at responding to texts than she is.
The duchess ?said it's all about firing off quick emails for her.
"I've always said, if it takes less than five minutes, do it now," she told the publication.?
Meghan loves to cook
The former lifestyle blogger, who talked food and wine on The Tig, said many people might be surprised to know she loves cooking.?
Meghan's best dish?
?"I make a really solid Bolognese sauce," she says.

The duchess also revealed Prince Harry loves a good ol' fashioned American burger with the duo often stopping into famous west coast burger chain In-N-Out on their way to or from meetings in LA.
Learning a language
Meghan said watching TV was "fairly rare" for her and she was often in bed at the end of the day doing Wordle or a bit of the language learning app Duolingo.
The royal is trying to "re-learn French" after four years of studying the language at high school.
The duchess also said she is a great Scrabble player and is "very good at Jeopardy!", the US game show.?
