It's Halloween and even the royals have dressed up before

Whether you're a regular spooky season advocate, or a cynic, around the world Halloween has become a hallmark holiday to celebrate all things ghoulish, gruesome กช and occasionally, glamorous.

The holiday, typically celebrated in the US, has now become a highly anticipated event to ward off even spirits.

Considering the year it's been, there's never been a better time to do that.

Plus, even the royals have hopped on the trend before, so here's a trip down trick or treat lane to get you in the mortifying mood.

Prince Harry often dressed up as a soldier for Halloween.

Granted, Prince Harry has had his share of more controversial costumes,? but in the 80's, Princess Diana would regularly dress up her second son in adorable outfits.

The Duke of Sussex often opted for police officer and army soldier uniforms (possibly his dream come true), and in 1986 he paired up with his brother to form a two-man military for Halloween.

The boys wore their costumes as they played on the steps of Highgrove House with Princess Diana.

The next year, Prince Harry dressed as a red goblin for his nursery school Nativity play.

Back in 2016, when the Duke and Duchess were dating, Prince Harry allegedly flew to Canada to visit his girlfriend - for the first time around Halloween.

In her since deleted Instagram, Meghan shared an image with a carved out pumpkin, and the couple allegedly went to a party together.

Residents of Toronto neighbourhood told The Sun say they saw two blacked-out SUVs with security guards, believed to be Harry's during the time.

Perhaps the couple, now based in California, will hop on the Halloween trend again?

In the fleeting months she was separated from Prince William, the now Duchess of Cambridge had her share of Halloween nights out on the town.?

In 2007, Kate Middleton wore a black vampire outfit , followed up by a sequin top and pair of yellow shorts.

The outfit that Kate wore to a 2008 Day-Glo Midnight Roller Disco event in London for charity caused significant controversy at the time.

The Daily Mail reported Buckingham Palace was "appalled" by her appearance, the publication calling it the "most unlady-like display".

The altruistic royal was spotted wearing a cat-inspired costume for a 2016 UNICEF Halloween Ball in London, that raised funds for life-saving work for Syrian children at the time.

Two years later, Princess Beatrice was spotted at exclusive club Annabel's Halloween party in a monochrome number with a bright lilac wig and a unicorn headpiece.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden posted an adorable family Halloween costume photo in 2018.

Her daughter Princess Leonore was dressed as a pastel mermaid, son Prince Nicolas was Batman and Princess Adrienne was a Halloween pumpkin.

The royal mum was a cat.

Greek Royals

Mother-daughter glamour duo Crown Princess Marie-Chantal and Princess Olympia, have dressed up for a Halloween event previously.

In 2016, the Greek royal shared an image of her and her daughter dolled up for Halloween in flowers and sequins, while also flaunting their home set up.
