American woman baffled by husband's 'really weird' morning habit of tucking his pyjamas behind pillow

By April Glover|

Forget tipping in restaurants กช the biggest cultural divide between America and the rest of the world has finally been uncovered.

For many people, tucking your pyjamas behind the pillow each morning is a normal daily routine.

But for US woman Chloe, this simple act has left the TikTok star scratching her head กช and her surprising question has divided the internet into two camps.

Chloe, a real estate agent who posts videos about her British husband's unusual habits, asked followers if his pyjama practice was "normal".

"Hello and welcome back to British husband TikTok. So, my British husband does something that is really weird, and I want to know if this is like, a normal British thing," Chloe began her message.

"So he puts his pyjamas behind his pillow. I mean, it's clever."

Hundreds of commenters quickly flocked to Chloe's TikTok to assure her this was a very normal tradition, especially in the UK.

"I thought the whole world did this. Where else would you put them?" one person asked.

"Very standard in the UK & in Ireland too," another wrote.

One added: "I do this too, from Scotland. it's so they're not in the wash coz they're not dirty but not in the drawers coz they're not clean."

TikTok users from around the world confirmed they also put their nightwear behind the pillow, including people from Canada, South Africa and Portugal.

An illuminating survey of Australians in the 9Honey office found this practice was very divisive, with an almost even 50 per cent of respondents revealing their pyjamas go behind the pillow each morning.

"I have put my PJS under my pillow since as long as I can remember! Where do people put them during the day?" I fervently asked my colleagues.

"I always put my PJs under my pillow," our co-worker Kahla responded.

"It does keep things nice and tidy," fellow pyjama-hider Heidi enthused. "I did it as a kid, and do it as an adult?when I remember," Aine confirmed.

Meanwhile, some of our colleagues were as equally as baffled when asked about the morning tradition.

"I've never done, but I have heard of this," Natalie honestly answered.

"Maybe when you're a kiddo and you wear them two nights in a row?" video-star Lucy tentatively responded.

And it seems Chloe's question struck a chord with the app, with a staggering 1.1 million people tuning in to watch her video.

The TikTok star has also posted about other British and American cultural differences, including cutlery etiquette and describing ice blocks as "ice lollies".
