British TV star Vanessa Feltz rushed to hospital for emergency surgery

British TV presenter Vanessa Feltz has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after experiencing "absolutely extraordinary" pain.

Feltz, 62, shared a video update for her followers on social media along with an explanation.

"Gosh! Hello from hospital," she wrote. "2pm I was fine. Had just made lunch and was playing with AJ 5 and Cecily nearly two. 3pm I was doubled over in agony. Scan showed big kidney stone.

"OMG! Astoundingly painful. Rushed into theatre. Very grateful thanks to my daughters nurses porters anaesthetists and wonderful surgeon. Thank you so much.?"

She added that she was "a bit shocked but very grateful indeed to be in hospital."

In the video Feltz explained how suddenly the pain began, saying one minute she was "fine" and the next she was hit by "absolutely extraordinary" pain.

"I'd never experienced pain like that and I'd given birth to two children naturally," she said. "I suddenly went from completely normal to doubled over in proper agony.

"And I was meant to be presenting a show on LBC from 6 til 9, I'm normally quite a trooper at this stuff?," she explained, adding that there was no way she could continue with her day in that amount of pain.

"Luckily managed to get seen at hospital quite quickly thank goodness because I was just in agony?, I couldn't sit down, I couldn't lie down, I didn't know what to do, the pain was absolutely astounding," she said.

Doctors discovered the source of here pain was a "big kidney stone" that required surgery.

?"Never had one in my life before," she said. ?A scan showed it was 5mm.

Feltz is now in recovery? and says she feels "considerably better."

"So good morning to everybody who found themselves in hospital yesterday after having a completely normal day, I send all my love," she added, before apologising for "looking so rough."

"Apparently they had to nuke it," she said of her kidney stone which was "blasted" with a laser surgery.

Feltz works as a presenter on This Morning on ITV. She is also a presenter on LBC radio.

She has two daughters and four grandchildren and lives in London.
