Mum's $5 trick for deep cleaning kids' toys quickly and easily

Putting kids' toys away is enough of a task without individually cleaning all the grime and germs off them.
But according to Australia's home hacks queen Chantel Mila, we can clean many toys in one go with her simple trick.
The mum-of-two shared five of her easy toy deep cleaning hacks in a TikTok video.

Mila's secret to cleaning multiple toys at once is to use a $4.97 Sabco mesh laundry bag from Bunnings.
"?Place small toys like Lego into a premium laundry wash bag and place them on a cold wash [in the washing machine]," she said.
You can also use the laundry bag to wash soft toys in the machine along with bi-carb soda on a gentle cycle.
For those well-loved soft toys that kids can't bear to part with long enough to be washed and dried, Mila has a tip for that too.
"Quickly refresh plush toys with a handheld steam cleaner to rid ?germs and dust mites," she said.

As for things like toy cars, non-electronic ones can be cleaned in the top rack of the ?dishwasher where the water sprays can get right into those nooks and crannies more easily than cleaning by hand.

Most solid plastic toys, like Lego, can also go in the dishwasher. The laundry wash bag can be used here too to keep small pieces all together.
Mila's fifth hack for easy toy cleaning is make a DIY cleaning solution for larger toys that can't be washed in an appliance.
To make this she mixes half a cup of water and half a cup of vinegar in a spray bottle. She then sprays this on a microfibre cloth to wipe the toys with?.
Those who viewed the cleaning tips video particularly loved the laundry bag hack.
"These are such good tips! The wash bag for toys is a game changer?," one said.
"Saves soo much time," responded Mila.
?The toy cleaning hacks are just a few of many the Melbourne mum has learnt and shared over the years. She combined all of her knowledge in a book called The Dream Clean, which was released in 2023.
