She then gave the wall a good wipe going from top to bottom while moving the cloth in an 'S' pattern?.

When finished cleaning the surface, she holds up the cloth to the camera revealing the white material is now completely covered in yellow.

"?We always clean the surfaces around the toilet for this exact reason!" she captioned the clip.

The comments from people who viewed the video varied with some in shock at the find, while others shared their way of avoiding the problem.

?"Oh dear god I did not expect that," one said.

"?So yall just keep adding things to my already long cleaning list," a viewer admitted.

"?The way my eyes popped out of my head," another commented.

As for those who have a recommendation for avoiding that level of hidden filth, they all said they encourage the males in the house to go to the toilet sitting down.

"I raised my son to sit. 19 yrs old now & I clean my walls weekly. They have never looked like this. Except when I was dating. Which I don't do now," a woman posted.?

There were also a few comments advising people to flush with the lid down so that ?particles in the toilet bowl are less likely to spray up and out onto other surfaces.

"?That's why I always flush with the lid down and ask everybody else to do the same. home or not, anywhere really lol," a woman said.

Meanwhile, others already clean around the toilet with some recommending disinfectant, an enzyme cleaner and using paper towels so they can be thrown out.

Whether the toilet is flushed with the lid down and only used sitting down it is still possible for germs, dust and dirt to be present on the surfaces around the toilet.

That means cleaning the toilet exterior the way you would the toilet by dusting the surface first, then applying your disinfectant and waiting for as long as it needs to work and then wiping the surface.
