Professional cleaner reveals her go-to tool for best results when dusting

By Rachael Gavin|

D?usters with handles might look like the ultimate tool for dusting, but a professional cleaner says they're not always the best option for the task.

Kacie Stephens, who owns The Big Clean Co, ?revealed her preferred cleaning tool for dusting in a reel on her cleaning company's Instagram page.

Instead of using a duster, Stephens always uses microfibre cloths sprayed with diluted For All จC a concentrated detergent product she created จC for dusting most surfaces. ?

"You'll pick up more dust and hold it [in the cloth], leaving surfaces cleaner?," the text in her video read.

That doesn't mean Stephens isn't a fan of long-handle dusters, rather they are best used for specific tasks and surfaces.

"These long dusters are great for hard to reach places and for dry dusting walls - but for skirting boards and any flat surfaces like window sills or table tops, I avoid them. They tend to push dirt around and also leave lint," she captioned her Instagram reel.

The tip was welcomed by The Big Clean Co's followers who had questions and thoughts about microfibre cloths.

Some wanted to know where to buy them and how to clean them.

?When it comes to the best place to buy microfibre cloths, Stephens has previously shared that Bunnings has "a nice pack of 20 that are great and cheap".

As for cleaning microfibre cloths, The Big Clean Co washes their cloths in the washing machine using hot water after each house they clean.

?"Washing microfibre cloths in hot water is a controversial tip because it does wear them out faster, but it cleans them better (making sure all grease and grime is removed), and a really clean microfibre is what you need to use to clean your house. I always wash ours in hot water and they last hundreds of washes," she captioned a reel on tips for keeping microfibre cloths soft and fluffy.

Another tip Stephens has for maintaining her microfibre cloths is to pop them in the drier for five minutes.

"If you want them lint free - chucking them in the drier for 5 minutes is the closest way to get there. And that static feeling that makes some of you feel a bit sick? That's what's making the dust cling to them," she said in an Instagram caption.

For anyone not a fan of microfibre cloths, there were a few suggestions in the comments section of the video worth considering.

One person suggested using a vacuum, ?which you can use in combination with dusting as it picks up any excess dust from wiping surfaces with a cloth.

Another recommended the Scrub Daddy damp duster as it only needs to be rinsed in cold water to remove dust.?
