Birges' hack is to use the double hang closet rod from Kmart, which was priced at $7.50 but is now $4 on clearance.

"This is great for the kids when you want them to be able to reach their clothes, and if you are renting and need a temporary organising solution?," she captioned her Instagram post.

In her video, Birges showed how easy it is to hook the double hang closet rod over the rod in the wardrobe. It easily slotted on either side of dozens of children's shirts and dresses and allowed for more clothes to be hung in the dead space below.

The professional organiser's tip was a hit with her followers?, with many not realising such a product existed.

"Wow! Did not know about this. Soo good for little people's wardrobes?," one said.

"Oh this is exactly what I needed 10 years ago!!" a follower commented.

"Good for pants hanging," a woman posted. "Love this sooo much!!" said one.

"I feel like this will change my life?," commented another.

The double hang closet rod also has rave reviews on Kmart's website where it has received a 4.6 out of five star rating from 102 reviews.

"I absolutely love this. Probably best [money] I've ever spent. It was super easy to install and use. I was lucky and it fit perfect in my wardrobe so no swinging, however given its not attached to the wall expect it to swing," one wrote.

Another found an alternative use for the rod to help dry washing inside.

"I live in a unit and don't like using the dryer. I purchased this and it hangs over my curtain rail extremely well. I have everything in hangers and let them dry naturally. Best thing ever!" she said.

?However, the product has proved so popular it appears to be sold out online and in many Kmart stores, though Birges said she bought two in Bondi Junction last week.

Shoppers can check the Kmart website to see if there is any stock in their local store?.

Alternatively, similar products, though a little more expensive, can be purchased from Howard's Storage World for $22.95 or? Catch for $32.20.
