Heartwarming moment blind toddler sees mother clearly for the first time

By Merryn Porter |

The simple things in life can bring the greatest joy - this heartwarming video is definitive proof of that. The clip shows the moment a legally-blind toddler sees her mother clearly for the very first time.

The video, which was uploaded to TikTok by @elderberrysultan, starts with her mother placing tiny pink glasses over the toddler's eyes before her face erupts into an enormous smile.

The little girl, named Riley, then excitedly twirls as she looks around the room at her family, including her mother, who can he heard laughing before she says, "I'm going to cry".

Through tears her mother says: "What do you think Riley?" as her little girl continues to take everything in before she giggles and runs around the room.

"Come and give your mum a hug. Can you see my face for the first time?" her mother says, before the little girl runs to her for a kiss.

The video was uploaded earlier this week with the title "Two years ago today! #fyp #family #toddlersoftiktok #love". It has already been viewed nine million times and has racked up 1.7 million likes.

Text written across the video says: "Best moment ever. Riley was legally blind. We noticed around two-years-old she called everyone 'mom' and 'dad' because she couldn't recognise faces.

"So we were able to get her glasses around Christmas time. Her reaction was amazing. And she finally saw mum's face for the first time."
