By Jo Abi|

A bold confession written by a food thief is making the rounds on Reddit. It is equal parts apologetic and self-righteous.

The letter reads, "To the tenant named [name redacted], I apologise for taking your Uber Eats delivery but you left the food out there I believe for quite some time on the receipt/bill it says you ordered this food earlier yesterday afternoon around 2.30 or 2.27pm."

The food thief said they noticed the food while heading out on a grocery shop.

"[I] took it for myself why you ask because I am short on money trying to save what I have left and your food was there for the taking."

"I'm sorry for taking it but when you're ordering online whether it's from Uber Eats?, skip the Dishes, or Doordash you should pick up your food immediately," they continued.

"Your food was extremely cold and it's just asking too be taken by people who are saving money or who are hungry and don't have much on their budget to put on their plates for food."

"But a word of advice when you're ordering food online it's best to keep track of your food on the app or computer and pick it up ASAP the moment the delivery driver comes with it if they're too lazy to deliver it to your apartment door that [sic] immediately be ready to it up when they lazily leave it ?downstairs in the lobby area," they said.

"This will be a good lesson for you in the future when you order from Uber or any of its other competitors. I'm not justifying what I did was right but I too am saving up with what I have to last the rest of the week and I'm sorry but I'll take whatever I can get," they continued.

"I'm sure you know the old saying Finders Keepers losers weepers."?

"I did you a favor, you should be thanking me for eating your food," another said.

?Others took the opportunity to share their own confessions.

"I saw a clearly lost Dasher deliver Popeyes to the house next to me where I knew the tenants moved out a month ago," one said.

"He parked across tracks and walked across a road to leave it there and I knew for a fact that it was going to sit there untouched. Benefit of the doubt I thought there was a chance they ordered it to the house and were going to get it on the way somewhere but it was 100% vacated.?"

One food delivery worker said they are instructed to "leave the food in a safe place" even when the address is clearly incorrect and as a result the once had to place a pizza on the side of a highway.

"The fact that they left a well-thought out note in two languages suggest that this has happened before, and will happen again," another said.

"That was made by someone with access to a printer, 20-30 minutes of spare time and a very lackluster sense of self-preservation," one Redditer suggested.

"'I'm sorry but this was your fault' is basically how I read this," another said.
