Jessica Simpson reveals dad's cancer battle in birthday tribute to daughter

Jessica Simpson has opened up about her daughter's touching birthday wish following her dad's recent battle with bone cancer.
The 42-year-old singer and mum of three revealed 11-year-old Maxwell's selfless act in an emotional Instagram post.
"She told me after she blew out her 11 candlesกญ'I made a wish that was for me and you and actually the whole family'," Simpson wrote alongside a joyful photo of the mother and daughter.

"Maxwell's birthday wish was for her Papa Joe's bone cancer treatment to work. It did. Thank you Maxi Drew for usin' your wish on our family and most importantly, my Dad."
The star also revealed that Maxwell's wish came about after she overheard her mother reading a text from her dad on a trip back to California.
"'GiGi if my birthday wish came true already can I say it out loud or do I still keep it to myself?" the girl asked her grandma. "My mum told her to share it with everyone if she wanted to, especially if it had already come trueกญ"

It's the first time Simpson has revealed her father, 65, was battling the disease, and she went on to gush about her "inspiring" daughter.
"You are mesmerizing, steadfast, intelligent, passionate, generous, loving, devoted, inspiring, enticing, confident, empathetic, powerful, intuitive, beautiful, DETERMINED, enlightened and FULL OF WONDER," she continued.
"The faith of a child is what keeps all of us ALIVE."

She also shared a photo of Maxwell's family birthday celebration captioned: "Can't win them all," in reference to the cake that appeared to fall apart.
Joe shares Jessica and sister Ashlee Simpson with ex-wife Tina Simpson. The couple divorced in 2013.
He previously battled prostate cancer in 2016, speaking to Ashlee about his health in her TV series in 2018.
"A year ago changed my life," Joe Simpson explained. "I remember saying to the doctor, 'What if I don't have surgery?' He said, 'In six months, you'll be dead'."
Along with Maxwell, Jessica Simpson shares two other children with her husband, Eric Johnson: Ace, nine, and Birdie, four.
