R?outine. That word is drummed into new mums as soon as they give birth C or even before.

Sticking to the all-important routine, which usually follows the sleep pattern of early to bed and early to rise, leaves many new mums feeling stressed out and anxious.

But a mum in the United States has thrown the rule book out the window when it comes to bedtime judging by her TikTok videos, with rather controversial results.

Victoria is a New York City-based stay-at-home-mum, according to her TikTok account, which has more than 262,000 followers.

She often posts videos about her life as a mum to her two young daughters, but a post this week has attracted attention over her toddler's unusual bedtime ritual.

The 26-second video starts with Victoria outside in the dark with a pram. Across the screen is written, ?"My baby's 12am bedtime routine."

Step one is a late night walk at 10pm. ?After placing her toddler in a pram she sets off along a street and into a supermarket where she can be seen wandering the aisles and picking up a few items.

The late night walk continues with her toddler joining her for a stroll along the river bank before they head home.

By 10.30pm they are back home and Victoria pops her daughter in her highchair. "10.40pm: Eat dinner" is flashed on the screen.

?"11pm: She watches cartoons while I clean," is next on the list. By 11.20pm, she takes her daughter out of the high chair to put on her PJs.

This is followed by "11.25pm C Bedtime books" and "11.40pm: Play" as Victoria can be seen roughhousing with her daughter.

By midnight it is finally bedtime for the tot, who is carried into her room with a toy and a book before the lights go out.?

The video was uploaded with the comment, "Do you prefer my nighttime or morning routines better?"

It has so far been viewed ?2.7 million times and received more than 420,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

In a follow-up video posted the next day, Victoria shared her morning routine, which sees her toddler sleep in until lunchtime.

"12pm: Baby wakes up," she wrote. This is followed by "12.15pm: Get changed" and "12.30pm: Eat breakfast." At 1pm she cleans up, followed by "1.30pm: Go outside and get sissy from school."

Not surprisingly, the videos had a mixed reaction. Some said they would be worried about the safety of walking the streets so late, while others questioned her bedtime.

"Why does she go to bed so late?" asked one, "Babies that little should be in bed at like 8pm," said another.

But many defended the mum. "I never understood parents who put their kids to bed at 7/8 and complain when they're up at 5/6," said one.

"This is a normal routine. The most important thing is consistency and she's got that down so no issue," was another comment.

"Both of them look so happy, it's so peaceful to watch this video," said another.

Others shared their own similar routines.

"Thank you for this! My son doesn't go to bed until 10.30-11.30 (he's two) and we always get soooo much lash back for it," said one.

"Now I feel 100 per cent better about my 12am bedtime routine. Everyone's lives and schedule is different," said another.

In another video Victoria showed her own nighttime routine after her toddler goes down at night, which includes going out to the deli to buy sandwiches at 12.20am, cleaning up, making her oldest daughter's school lunch, and a 2am workout before she finally turns in at 4am.
