By Naomi White|

S?ophie the giraffe is almost a right of passage for babies once they cut their first tooth.

Take a quick glance of prams at your local park, and no doubt you'll spot many a bub happily chomping away on the popular toy.

But one mum may now have many parents rushing to check the beloved teether after she shared her horror discovery on TikTok.

In the viral clip, the mum-of-two and emergency doctor Dr Katie shows us her toddler daughter Amelia's Sophie.

Explaining that after finding Sophie in a box, Amelia had wanted to give this to her baby brother, Alexander, Dr Katie had first wanted to check how clean it was.

Over a vomit inducing minute and-a-half, Dr Katie then films herself cutting Sophie open with a pair of scissors. And let's just say we understand why she said she'd be throwing both Sophie and the scissors out.

?Cutting the rubber toy open, she then lets out a gasp. "Oh my god! No way! Oh my god, I just got goosebumps," she said, revealing a thick coating of black, mouldy sludge.

"The thought this has been anywhere near my baby's mouthกญlook how mouldy it is!," she continues.

"That is gross. Woah if that's what a chew toy looks like inside, imagine what the inside of bath toys look like."

Her post shocked many of her followers, too.

"Worst I've seen yet. Noting this for a few years from now," commented one mum.

"My granddaughter had a little giraffe like that and it was just the same black inside. My daughter just recently had another baby no giraffe for him," commented another.

Dr Katie's discovery follows reports from 2017, when several parents shared similar incidents.
