Urgent recall of popular wooden baby toy due to 'choking' fears

A popular wooden teething toy has been recalled as it may pose a choking or suffocation hazard to young children.

Product Safety Australia (PSA) issued the warning about the 'Wooden baby rattle teething toy' by HushBabyAu as it does not comply with the size and shape requirements of the mandatory safety standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age.

"The rattle may pose a choking or suffocation hazard for young children, which can lead to severe injury or death," PSA said in a statement.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the rattle, "destroy the product" and contact HushBabyAu to arrange a full refund.

The product was sold online nationally from September 1, 2021 to March 9, 2022.
