Princess of Wales reveals one of the questions she's asked most during passionate speech

T?he Princess of Wales gave the keynote speech at the Shaping Us National Symposium at London's Design Museum on Wednesday.

During the mum-of-three's passionate speech about the importance of her landmark early years work, the royal revealed one of the questions she is asked the most.

"People often ask me why I focus my time on early childhood," Kate told the audience.

"The answer is because I care deeply about making a positive difference, in helping the most vulnerable and supporting those who are most in need.

"This is not just about the youngest children in our society, who are, by their very nature, vulnerable. It is also about the many young people and adults who are suffering.

"We must do more than simply meet the short term needs of these individuals. We must also look at creating long term, preventative change. And that takes us right back to the beginning."

The Princess of Wales launched the Shaping Us awareness campaign in January as part of her ?Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which began in 2021.

The efforts pull together Kate's decade of work in the early childhood sector, noting the impacts of children's lives and development? in the first five years on their lifelong mental health and wellbeing.

The Princess of Wales? arrived at the convention wearing a regal purple double breast suit by one of her go-to designers, Emilia Wickstead.

Kate accessorised the look by adding a colour contrast, wearing navy suede pointed-toe Gianvito Rossi heels.

Peaking out from her bouncy blow dry?, the royal added Princess Diana's drop diamond and sapphire earrings but kept her neckline bare.

The royal was greeted by UK broadcaster and author Fearne Cotton as she arrived at the Design Museum, which is located down the road from Kensington Palace.

When asked by Cotton how she was feeling ahead of the speech จC described as the biggest of the royal's life by a Kensington Palace source จC Kate replied: "Good, nervous but excited too.

"So nice to see it all coming together and different people along with it ... All of us are still learning, sharing knowledge and experiences with each other."?

The Princess of Wales also revealed to Cotton that her youngest son, Prince Louis, had taken part in her study through school.

?"Louis' class, they came back with a feelings wheel, it's really good," the 41-year-old said.

"They go to the classroom, these are five- or six-year-olds, and going with names or pictures of a colour that represents how they feel that day, so there is a real keenness in school particularly to get involved in conversations."

Kate told the crowd it "isn't enough therefore to simply wish for a better world" and encouraged those in the room to look at early childhood for the root cause of tough social challenges like homelessness, mental health and addiction.?

The outing for the Princess of Wales comes the morning after a bash for her father-in-law on Tuesday night, as the monarch celebrated his 75th birthday with family.?
