The versatile $3.30 hack a professional organiser uses to organise every room of the house

By Rachael Gavin|

A professional organiser has declared tension rods not only one of her "all-time favourite" hacks, but "one of the most cost-effective too".

Anita Birges has previously showed how to use the gadget to organise narrow drawers, and now she has revealed six more options for them.

The tension rods Birges uses cost $3.30 each and were purchased from Daiso?, but you can also find a four pack of 15.7 to 28 inch rods for $15.58 (which is $3.90 per rod) on Amazon.

"There are so many ways to use them," Birges said in an Instagram post.

In the wardrobe?, Birges uses tension rods to make a shoe rack by making three levels using two rods per level (see the image above). The rods were inserted between the end of the wardrobe and the next section.

As for the kitchen, she recommends tension rods for organising? baking trays and chopping boards on a shelf and cans in a drawer.

If you add 'S' hooks to the tension rod, the gadget becomes even more versatile and ?be used to hang utensils and plants.

Birges also suggested adding shower curtains and bull dog clips to turn the tension rod into a card holder, which she has installed under a mantel.

Those hacks aren't the only ways you can use tension rods?, they can also be used under the sink to hang cleaning sprays on and with 'S' hooks in the wardrobe to hang scarves and belts.

Before you head out to purchase any tension rods, Birges ?has a tip you need to know.

"When you want to use a tension rod, make sure you measure up the area and then the space you want the tension rod to fit into has to fall in between [the two measurements listed on the product]," she said.

This is because tension rods need to fit the exact space you're using them in so that they'll stay in place.

Birges' ?Instagram followers loved the ideas and planned to use them in their home.

"I'm going to get these for my daughters shoes. Thanks Anita," one said.

"I just bought these finally to put under the sink to hang the dish cloth on," a woman commented.

"The tension rod is the MVP จC so many uses," another said.
