When a Queensland mum threw a birthday party for her daughter, she never could have expected next to no one would show up.
After the mum explained why the order was suddenly downsized, the shift supervisor at Domino's in Coolum, Miles, was so moved by the her story he decided try and help the girl celebrate another way.
By sending her home with a custom made dessert pizza and a happy birthday message to 'cheer her up', saying that not knowing the girl, he took at guess at what she'd like and knew chocolate was always a hit.
"It was only something small, but I'm pleased to know that in some way, the team at Domino's Coolum and I were able to turn her day around and make her feel special," Miles said.
After the story was posted on the pizza chain's Facebook page, many praised Miles for his thoughtfulness. Among the more than 1,600 comments, many also sent their own birthday messages to the little girl.?
"?Well done, Miles. You sound like a great human! Hugs to the mum and her daughter. Those people that didn't show aren't your people," one woman said.
"Very kind gesture. Hope the kid involved was able to have a enjoyable birthday all things considered," agreed another.
"I hope the love being sent to this mum for her daughter lets her know that there are a lot of beautiful people out there, just like Miles and to remind her daughter that this happens but it won't always be like this," added a third.
The response did not surprise Miles, who said it was a tight-knit community.?
"Coolum is such an incredible community, and the response from other local businesses and community members has been overwhelming."
