Single dad's wholesome plea for amusement park date goes viral

Single parents know meeting Miss and Mr Right after children is not always easy.
Apart from the need to protect the feelings of a lot of big and little people, there are also the logistics of actually meeting someone and then finding a child-friendly way to go on a date.
But a single dad in the US became an unlikely social media star after his video request for a date went viral.

A nervous looking Chris took to his TikTok account this week to upload the 46-second video.
Across the screen was written "Serious inquiries only please" and a laughing emoji as Chris, who was wearing a T-shirt and baseball cap, said, "Hello. I am currently looking for a plus one to accompany my 15-year-old daughter, her friend and myself to Kings Island on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
"I am a single, divorced 44-year-old from Ohio and I am looking for a single woman, preferably 34, at least 34 years old, that is non-smoking and enjoys roller coasters, and someone who's as much fun as me," he continued as he appeared to glance at notes.
"Don't let the grey hairs in the beard fool you. I do also have the 'dad bod' to go with it. If that's not enough incentive, this also comes with a Fast Lane Plus Pass so we can skip the roller coaster lines all day long.
"I look forward to hearing from you. Have a good day," he ended the video, which he uploaded with the hashtags #singledad #ohio #40something and #rollercoaster.

The video quickly went viral, racking up more than 2.3 million views so far, as well as more than 148,000 likes and thousands of comments.
Many commenters simply wanted to wish him all the best.
"Good luck on your quest," wrote one, while another said, "I hope you find someone as awesome as you! Seriously!"
"This is so wholesome," wrote another, while another said, "Dude, this took a lot of courage. I'm really cheering you on!"
Others loved that he had only a couple of prerequisites. "At least 34 years old." GREEN flag!" said one.
Another thought she was a match. "I'm a widow... I have two little boys... I'm 34 years old... I don't smoke! I'm down for this handsome!" she wrote.
Others saw the funny side. "Fast pass? How firm are you on the woman part?" wrote one.
Many simply loved the feedback he was getting.
"What I love is that people on here are so supportive of you. In the world full of hate and negativity, it's refreshing to see positive comments!" wrote one.
Many asked to be kept updated on his search, which he later offered in a second video which he said was the "highly requested part two of the Kings Island plus one search."
Chris said he never could have expected the response for the video and while it was "80 per cent for fun and 20 per cent for real" he had picked someone for the date, but would not announce her name "unless she wants to be known", in which case they will do so from the park on September 10.
And while he didn't pick the widow mentioned above, he did offer to buy her and her two kids tickets to the amusement park.
