Prince William 'furious' over Prince Harry's 24-hour UK visit: 'Chose to make it a PR opportunity'

By Maddison Leach|

Prince William is said to be "privately furious" after Prince Harry spent just 24 hours in the UK in the wake of their father, King Charles', cancer diagnosis.

The Duke of Sussex raced from his home in California, USA, back to London to see his father as soon as the diagnosis was made public, but met with the king for just 30 minutes.

While some royal experts have speculated that the meeting between father and son was kept brief for the King's benefit, others have slammed Harry's visit as a 'PR stunt'.

Royal expert and author Ingrid Seward claims the stunt wouldn't have sat well with William.

"William would be upset that Harry, yet again, has chosen to make this visit to see his father a PR opportunity," Seward told The Sun.

"William must be privately furious thinking over all the years how he supported Harry, and at this one moment in his life when his 75-year-old father and wife of 13 years are both potentially seriously unwell, all Harry can think about is Harry."

William's wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, is currently taking an extended break from royal duties as she recovers from a planned abdominal operation at home in Windsor.

The future king had also stepped back from his responsibilities to be with her and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, while she was on the mend.

However, Charles' diagnosis being made public put William in a tricky position.

He now has to juggle his duty to the monarchy as heir apparent and his duty to his immediate family as a husband and father.

The last thing William wants to deal with at a time like this, Seward suggests, is Harry touching down on UK soil and expecting a happy reunion.

There were rumours that the two brothers would reunite and put past hurts behind them in light of the King's cancer diagnosis, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

In fact, it's been widely reported that William and Harry did not meet once in the brief time the Duke of Sussex was in London.

"As far as William is concerned he has absolutely no interest in speaking to Harry until Harry behaves like a gentleman and apologises for the years of rudeness and slurs he has aimed at William and the Princess of Wales," she said.

There was little time for a reunion anyway; not long after meeting with his father for 30 minutes, Harry jetted back to the States to make a surprise appearance at an NFL event.

He did not make any mention of his father or sister-in-law's health while at the NFL Honours Awards in Las Vegas.
